Ujaas Signs MoU with Evonik India to Promote Menstrual Hygiene in Mumbai Schools
Kerala has taken a significant step toward promoting sustainable health practices by launching an eco-friendly menstrual hygiene program aimed at reducing environmental impact and improving access to safe hygiene solutions.
The initiative focuses on distributing biodegradable sanitary products, encouraging the use of reusable menstrual alternatives, and raising awareness about menstrual health and hygiene across urban and rural communities. Special emphasis is being placed on educating young girls in schools and colleges through workshops, awareness drives, and community engagement programs.
This program also collaborates with local self-help groups and women-led enterprises to manufacture eco-friendly sanitary products, thereby generating employment opportunities while promoting sustainability. By integrating health education with environmental consciousness, the initiative aims to break taboos surrounding menstruation and foster a culture of openness and informed choices.
Government officials highlighted that this effort aligns with Kerala’s broader commitment to sustainable development and women’s empowerment. The program is expected to serve as a model for other states to adopt environmentally responsible menstrual hygiene solutions.
Through such initiatives, Kerala continues to lead by example in addressing critical social and environmental challenges while empowering women and communities at large.
